In a Feb. 15, 2011 file photo, a 3-month-old giant panda cub, newly named Po, is brought out by Dr. Hayley Murphy, director of veterinary services at Zoo Atlanta. Po, the only giant panda cub born at a U.S. zoo last year, is finally making public appearances. Po, who was born Nov. 3 at Zoo Atlanta, has been in seclusion with mom, Lun Lun until the last couple of weeks. ATLANTA – The only giant panda cub born at a U.S. zoo last year is finally making public appearances.

Po, who was born Nov. 3 at Zoo Atlanta, has been in seclusion with mom, Lun Lun (loon loon) until the last couple of weeks. Zoo officials say Po is typically in the panda's indoor enclosure from 9:30-10:30 a.m. each day with his mother.

The cub is about 15 pounds and is the third panda cub for Atlanta.

Only four U.S. zoos have giant pandas, which are leased from China: Atlanta, Memphis, San Diego and Washington, D.C.

The zoo held a naming ceremony for the cub last month, giving him the name Po after the main character in the animated hit "Kung Fu Panda."
