New poem from Luciole friend/contributor Scott Wannberg: "the brokedown people"
the brokedown people
the brokedown people implore you to rev them back up again
to some semblance of functioning.
if such were that easy,
but the de-regulated water just over reached its agreement,
and the ghost just can't settle.
the hard of hearing just got harder to see
and the book mobile crashed
because the infrastructure just
got outed.
the broken bones ask for a cohesive show of something,
maybe hands.
the light isn't sure how far it wants to take it,
and the measuring cup
can't count any higher
than last week's figures.
the brokedown love
claims you cannot ever hope
to out run it.
you look at your legs
when no one is paying attention,
you begin to
remember
the early mornings
when
you once
flew.
the brokedown love
lays in scattered pieces
you reach down to
see
if you can
still
play.
