FILE - In this July 23, 2008 file photo Egyptian boys watch passing girls at the Nile bank in Cairo, Egypt. Sexual harassment of women in Arab streets, schools and work places may be driving more and more women to cover up, and into the confines of their homes, rights activists said, threatening to hinder progress in women's rights in the region.

This display of misogyny and violence towards women is deeply seeded and will not go away over night. A society or culture which treats it's women in this way, shows it's deep socio-pathology. The situation is dangerous and we must continue to bring attention to the suffering of women in this manner,as well as the roots of the behaviors, both cultural and religious, that sanction this, or look the other way when it does happen.
