From Gill: Some of you know that I was a winner in the 2008 Indigo Dreams Poetry Booklet Competition with my first collection, ‘This Seven Year Old Walks into a Bar’

I had hoped to offer the profits of the first 50 sold, to a bereavement charity close to my heart, but unfortunately the charity turned down my offer, feeling the poems were ‘not appropriate’. I wasn’t sure to laugh or cry when I heard that!

My publisher has submitted it for the Aldeburgh First Collection Prize, which is very flattering, although I don’t believe it’s up to that standard. I still have much to learn, but hey, that’s half the fun!

I’m not into the hard sell, but if you like my poetry I hope that you will buy a book. I make virtually no money from this. After the first 50 were published ( the prize), I pay for the books myself. Poets will never be rich – my family keep telling me to write a bonkbuster instead! I just like the idea of people in different parts of the world enjoying what I write. Books can be signed by me and/ or dedicated to someone if you message me here.

‘O’Halloran’s words are fresh and deftly delivered. They helped me see the world through different eyes……In this time of economic hardship, we all take more care in our choice of new reading material. You won’t go wrong choosing this collection’.
