Happy birthday Mr. President ... and Ms. Thomas

Some people love birthdays, some people don't. President Barack Obama clearly isn't shy about celebrating his 48th — he marched right into Press Secretary Robert Gibb's briefing, carrying cupcakes and leading the White House press corps in singing "Happy Birthday" ... to veteran reporter Helen Thomas. She's also celebrating a birthday today: her 89th.
The president told Thomas she could decide how to distribute the cupcakes.
"Helen wished for world peace, no prejudice, but she and I also had a common birthday wish," the president said. "She said she wishes for a healthcare reform bill."
So how has the president been celebrating his big day? He lunched with Vice President Biden and the Senate Democratic Caucus. Gibbs also told reporters that Obama had fun at Camp David over the weekend playing basketball as well as bowling — wait for it — a 144. Seems like Obama has been working on his game, after he bowled a sad (and highly publicized) 37 during the campaign. Said Gibbs:
"I told the president, look, if you had done this in Pennsylvania, my life would have been a little easier last spring."
