Happy news to report for my mother.... many thanks to everyone!

We went back to see my mother’s doctor for the biopsy and blood results this past Tuesday. We received good news: the biopsy did not show cancer! It revealed granulomas that are an inflammatory response to something such as sarcoidosis, her bouts with Valley Fever (though her blood results registered low for this), or perhaps even an atypical case of tuberculosis. We will have to do some further testing, and she will have to have follow-up CAT scans to make sure the lesions do not progress, as it is still possible she could have cancer elsewhere in the lung, or it could still develop. But that part aside, it is very good news that her biopsy did not show cancerous cells!

Last summer, as some of you may remember, I had to put the magazine on hold to prepare to evacuate due to the fires in the area. The smoke and pollutants hung heavy for over three months, as multiple fires raged around us. It is quite possible that inhaling this nasty stuff created a super-inflammatory response, alongside the other potential causes. She could not take the treatment for these conditions, without inflaming her already delicate state. But the doctor did say she could do a lot for herself with better nutrition, and we are certain that she will benefit a great deal from that (as any of us would).

We will have to really keep a good eye on everything to make sure we appraise the situation correctly and continue to do all that we can for her health. I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful it has been to receive such wonderful messages, thoughts, prayers, good wishes, etc., from all of you. Please truly know how much it is deeply appreciated, and how much it helped us. You are all in my heart, and I send many happy thanks filled with big hugs and love.

Please know I am grateful to all of you! <3

I am so glad to hear such awesome news for a change! We just lost someone in our family a couple weeks ago to cancer and she really put up a fight. Even far outlasted what the doctors predicted. A real fighter at her young age...just made 42... So, to hear this wonderful news about your mother...just fills me with joy! You have a better doctor now, I hope? I'll still keep you both in my thoughts...hugs all around!

Oddly enough, Stacey, this was the same doctor. It is surreal all that has happened in 6 weeks, from being told it was cancer and there was nothing to be done, etc., and then going through more extensive testing and getting results. It is still a situation with some worries in it, but I am so thankful the biopsy was in our favor. Fingers crossed ... Read Moreabout all the rest of it!

(PS) This time the doctor was very nice to her, and I made certain that he answered all of our questions, etc.

Again, multitudes of thanks to everyone for all of your good wishes, which have meant the world to my mother and I....

Stacey, PS) it was a completely different doctor that ordered this biopsy, as the first one was patently against it.... thank goodness it is done, and she did not have as bad a time of it as it could have been. I am very grateful!
