November is American Indian Heritage Month

In recognition of Native American month, we will be holding special themed nature hikes throughout November. Our docents are all trained educators and eager to share their knowledge of Chumash history and culture, as well as pointing out the various flora and fauna you'll see along the way. These nature hikes will start at the Chumash museum, weave their way through the park along approximately 3 miles of trails through stunning oak groves on sacred Chumash ground and culminate in a visit to our pictograph caves. Upon your return, your hike ends with a visit to our musuem, full of artifacts, paintings and exhibits bringing the Chumash to life.

Fees for the hike are $10 per adult and $5 per child. Please call or email and let us know which tour you would like to attend and we'll reserve a spot for you. If you have a group of 10 or more people, you can also inquire about scheduling a private nature hike for any day of the week, starting at your convenience. Call or email and we'll get you set up. This is a great idea for Scouting groups, social clubs, exercise groups, etc. Check out our web site to see more information about our hikes and pictures of our beautiful museum and park. We hope to see you soon.

Open hikes are scheduled for:

  • Nov 8 at 10 a.m.
  • Nov15 at 10 a.m.
  • Nov 22 at 10 a.m.
  • Nov 29 at 10 a.m. (Thanksgiving weekend)

Please call to confirm the hike's starting time on the Friday before the scheduled date. Thank you,
