Austrian kidnap victim Natascha Kampusch wants justice: accusations surfaced that authorities ignored tip that led to her captor, and Interior Ministry wouldn't investigate to avoid scandal before Parliamentary elections

A young Austrian woman whose kidnapper kept her locked away in a cell for years said Monday she lost faith in her country's judiciary after accusations surfaced that authorities ignored a tip that could have led to her captor.
Natascha Kampusch was 10 when Wolfgang Priklopil abducted her in 1998. He held the girl for the next 8 1/2 years, most of the time in the tiny underground cell in his home in a Vienna suburb. Kampusch escaped in August 2006, and Priklopil threw himself in front of a train hours later.
Herwig Haidinger, the former head of Austria's Federal Criminal Investigations Bureau, last week accused authorities of ignoring a tip in April 1998 from a local policeman that pointed to Priklopil. He also alleged that Interior Ministry officials refused to look into that accusation once Kampusch reappeared, so to avoid a scandal before parliamentary elections that fall.
Kampusch said in a television interview with Austrian broadcaster ORF late Monday that she was angry, had lost faith in the country's judiciary, and she called for those who did not pursue the clue to be "held responsible."
"When one makes a mistake one should somehow try to make things right again, or to learn from it," Kampusch said.
She said she was consulting with her lawyers on whether to sue.
"It's not about money but about justice," Kampusch said.
The Interior Ministry has launched an evaluation commission to look into the accusations.

Rest assured, if politicians careers are on the line, especially in the run up to a general election, they will always lie and cover up any wrong doing and criminality that they may have been involved in or not acted on when they should have.
There are parallels to what happened in this case, in the run up to the Austrian elections, with the appalling Mr X abuse and neglect scandal in Edinburgh, Scotland, where, to protect and cover up for his friend and colleague Kenny MacAskill MSP, Scotland’s First Minister, Alex Salmond MSP, failed to take any action in the case concerned knowing that the scandal could prove fatal in the run up to the Scottish elections on 3 May 2007. Salmond went on to appoint MacAskill as Scotland’s new “Justice” Secretary, and 13 letters later to Salmond (since 12 February 2007 … the most recent going on Thursday 14 February 2008), he, MacAskill and the ruling Scottish National Party (SNP) “Government” continue to bury the horrific case concerned at SNP HQ in central Edinburgh. A massive cover up, criminal collusion and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice by Scotland’s First Minister, “Justice” Secretary and the SNP hierarchy to protect the guilty for their appalling inaction, wrong doing and repeated whitewashing of the case concerned. Scandalous.
As Natascha said herself : “If one makes a mistake, one should try to fix it and learn from it. It’s not about money; it’s a matter of justice being done.”
And that is true of the Mr X abuse and neglect scandal in Edinburgh too.

I have now copied my last letter to you of Thursday 3 April to Mr MacAskill twice, but get no response.
Perhaps you could now intervene in this very serious case of the terrible abuse, neglect and ill-treatment of my son over the past 19½ years – as I have been asking (begging and pleading with you in effect) over the past 15 months, since my first letter of 12 February 2007.

Scottish Government's deafening silence and refusal to meet abuse and neglect victim's advocates at Bute House in central Edinburgh (the official residence of the First Minister of Scotland) now prove beyond any doubt their guilt and complicity in covering up the appalling Mark X case over several years.
Alex Salmond, First Minister of Scotland; Kenny MacAskill, "Justice" Secretary; Nicola Sturgeon, "Health" Secretary; and their SNP (Scottish National Party) spin doctors continue to conspire to defeat the ends of justice in this case ... and seemingly are being allowed to get away with it without being properly challenged or held to public account by anyone.
