From our friend Graywolf: the great man and warrior, Floyd Red Crow Westerman
People have been asking me why I have been so quiet lately and the reasons are many---but first and foremost would be the passing of a great man and warrior of our People, the honorable FLOYD REDCROW WESTERMAN. I just got back from his home after paying my respects to his wife Rosie and his family, I was able to go in and say goodbye to the great man himself. I can not tell you the sadness I felt when I saw him lying there for it became apparent that a very good man was lost---but even sadder, as we lose these great warriors and leaders that we have no one to replace them. Maybe this should be a wake-up call for our young men to take the example of this great man and stand up for our people as he did. Hopefully so as we need leaders today more than ever. And in his honor I have decided that now is not the time for petty squabbles, now is the time to honor this great and I honor him by being quiet---

THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE WHO WILL COME INTO OUR LIVES, SOME NOT STAYING LONG, OTHERS DON'T NEED TO IN ORDER TO CREATE A LASTING IMPRESSION. REDCROW WAS LIKE THAT. HIS WORDS WERE GENTLE, BUT VERY POWERFUL. HE WAS A VERY KIND MAN, BUT BELIEVED IN OUR PEOPLE AND OUR WAYS. HE WAS A GREAT INSPIRATION TO ME, ONE THAT INFLUENCED ME TO FOLLOW THE ROAD I HAVE TAKEN. HE WAS A TRUE LEADER, LIKE THOSE OF GREAT TIMES. HE BELIEVED IN FAMILY, AND HELD TRUE TO WHAT WAS MOST IMPORTANT, OUR PEOPLE AND OUR YOUTH. HE TOUCHED MANY LIVES IN HIS TIME, AND COULD SPEAK TRUTH WITH LOVE. HE WASN'T JUST A LEADER, HE WAS A GIFT FOR ALL. IN THE WORDS OF FLOYD REDCROW WESTERMAN.............
